How many pixels for my woven, care, or neck label?

Conclusion: At 300 DPI, multiply each flat side in inches by 300. A straight 1.5 × 2.5 in care label is 450 × 750 px. For a center-fold neck label, double the visible width for the flat strip. Keep lettering ≥ ~0.06 in tall and clear of the sew line. Use the calculator, then download a blank PNG with fold guides.

Formula: flat pixels = flat inches × DPI. Center-fold flat width = 2 × visible width. End-fold flat width = visible + 2 × fold allowance.

How it works

Flat pixels = flat inches × DPI

Woven and printed apparel labels are designed at the flat size your mill weaves or prints, then folded or sewn. At 300 DPI, each inch becomes 300 pixels. Center-fold neck labels need a flat strip twice as wide as the visible face; end-fold labels add fold tabs on both ends.

Amazon Fashion, Etsy apparel, and Shopify clothing sellers use these files for neck, care, and brand woven labels. Confirm fold direction, mirrored art, and sew allowance with your supplier — mills differ on damask resolution and required formats (often PDF/AI plus a PNG proof).

Questions

FAQ

How many pixels is a 1.5 × 2.5 in care label at 300 DPI?

450 × 750 pixels for a straight-cut label. Multiply each side in inches by 300.

How do I size a center-fold woven neck label?

Double the visible width for the flat strip; height stays the same. A 1.2 × 1 in visible face → 2.4 × 1 in flat → 720 × 300 px at 300 DPI.

What is end-fold allowance?

Extra fabric on both ends that wraps a seam. Flat width = visible width + 2 × fold allowance.

What DPI should I export?

300 DPI for most woven and printed care labels. 72 DPI is screen-only.

How tall should the text be?

About 0.06 in (~18 px at 300 DPI) minimum letter height is a practical starting point; avoid ultra-thin strokes. Proof with your mill.

Does this cover FTC / Amazon care wording?

No. It only sizes the artwork. Follow applicable care-labeling rules and keep listing claims consistent with the physical label.
